This is the heart-stopping moment a California cop was charged at by an angry cow.
The video, captured by Officer Brandon Pratt’s patrol car dashcam on December 23, shows him trying to shoo the animal away from a highway near Susanville in the Californian county of Lassen.
The animal grows angry and charges at the highway cop. It tries to ram Pratt and toss him in the air but only inflicts a ‘glancing blow’ near his shoulder.

The officer’s colleagues told the Los Angeles Times his bulletproof vest likely helped protect him against the cow’s attack.
The footage shows Officer Pratt returning to his patrol car and breathing a sigh of relief after his lucky escape.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) in Susanville shared the footage and wrote: ‘Holy Cow! Our Officer Pratt caught on camera one of the many dangers we face on a daily basis here in rural northeastern California.

‘Susanville CHP regularly handles calls of large animals that are outside of fenced areas and are threatening our motoring public by walking into the highway.
‘This meat locomotive decided it had enough of being told what to do. Fortunately Officer Pratt escaped relatively unscathed!’
The police added: ‘Remember to always buckle up, never drink and drive, and call CHP to handle those pesky cows that are outside their fences.’
According to a CHP spokesperson, the office fields around four to five loose cow callouts a week.
Cattle ranching is a major industry in Lassen County, California, where Officer Pratt works.
With weights that range between 1,000 to 2,000lbs, loose cows can pose a serious danger to cars and people.
Earlier this year, an escaped cow was captured on camera terrorising patients in a Colombian hospital waiting room.
Bizarre video footage shows the animal charging into the room and causing immediate panic among the unsuspecting patients at the Hospital San Rafael in the north-western Colombian department of Antioquia in February 2021.
Local newspaper Vanguardia said nobody was seriously injured in the incident as the trampled woman was treated for minor contusions and pain while the rest of the patients did not seek treatment.
