Over a year after Oscuro Deseo landed on the platform, Netflix announced the 2022 date for the new and final chapter in the tale of love, betrayal, obsession and murder. Yes, season 2 will be the last.
In season 1, attorney and college professor Alma Soares (Perroni) has an affair with Darío (Speitzer), a much younger man, after suspecting her husband is cheating on her. But her fling leads to unexpected and tragic consequences, ending in a cliffhanger. But fans won’t have to wait much longer to find out if Alma (Perroni) and Darío (Speitzer) will reunite and once again give in to passion and their dark desires.
The series is one of several series developed by Netflix as part of its commitment to produce original content in Mexico and bolster local talent in front of and behind the camera for worldwide consumption. The streamer opened offices in Mexico City in 2019 as part of its Latin America expansion plans.
After the release of Oscuro Deseo last year, Francisco Ramos, VP of Latin American Originals at Netflix announced a new slate of Mexican original productions, stating the “new productions symbolize Mexico’s immense importance to us as well as our subscribers’ appetite for Mexican stories both locally and abroad, as evidenced by the global success of Dark Desire and Control Z. Stories unite us, and we need that now more than ever.”
